Life is like a journey.

The best parts are what occur while you are on your way to your destination; not what happens at the destination.

I disagree to an extent. I don't think that the best part of life is what happens to you along the way. If your journey is full of bumbs, tears and pain...what's enjoyable about that? I think the destination is what's important, it makes putting up with the journey worth it

Your comment is not about a disagreement with my premise, but an observation that along the way the bus might travel trough troubled roads.

Now that is merely part of the excitement of the journey, since the destination of that journey can be the gas chamber. In that context the journey would be better than the destination.

The point being made is that you got only limited opportunity to make the best of what you've got.

If you got a lemon you make lemonade.

Additionally in terms of the journey analogy, with respect to your life experience, you have much more time available to you during the journey than you have at the destination of mortal life; death!

I too disagree to an extent. I however believe that, the BOTH PARTS of the journey plays an important role (intransit and destination).

When we refer to "the best part" generally we refer "to the end".  It signifies achievements, accomplishments and completion. It the greatest feeling ever!  For instance, the completion of an exams / recieving your results, or your arrival to a destination point (From Trinidad to Maimi). What an exhilarating feeling!

I however maintain my support for the two parts, mainly, because the transit period of the journey CAN be full of excitement and thrill and that experience may be labelled as "Best". For example, the scenic view on the way to your destination.

I wonder what is Gail Mitchell's view on this topic?
