What is your responsibilty to prevent yourself from being a victim and enjoy favourable experiences?

In today's radio programme ("A Better Way To Live" of 24-Apr-2013), we discussed the concept of responsibility and victimhood.

A victim was described as one who lost out in an encounter with another.

Therefore a person who nutures a victim mentality was a loser.

It was mentioned that from birth to death one had two attributes that never goes away.

The first is exposure to risks, and the second is the responsibility to manage those risks in a way to enjoy favourable experiences.

A person who accepted his responsibility to manage his risks reduces his chance of future loss, and increases his chance of enjoying favourable experiences.

What are your thoughts on responsibility and victimhood?
